Artist Statement
I am an oil painter deeply influenced by my grandfather, a musician who took up painting in his retirement. As a child, I was captivated by the smell of oil paints in his studio and the mystery of transforming blank canvases into vibrant artwork using paint. He gave me my first set of oil paints when I was 12, setting me on my artistic journey. High school and college teachers further shaped my growth as an artist.
My landscapes are evocative renderings of organic forms, capturing a uniquely personal sense of place. They reflect the human landscape—delicate and fragile, yet strong, vibrant, and unpredictable. I strive to transcend mere visual representation, transforming my unique vision and emotional response into fresh perspectives. I am drawn to the shapes, color, harmony and light within the landscape.
My style is expressive-realist, conveying mood, emotion, and serenity through shape, color, and harmony. I find solace in the tranquility of nature; its horizon soothes my soul.
Driven by an innate connection to the natural world, I translate its organic beauty into rich, evocative paintings. With a resilient spirit, I infuse each artwork with detail and creativity, capturing the essence of nature in a way that resonates acutely with viewers and invites them to immerse themselves in its serene beauty.
